How to Install and Set Up MA Trade Assistant in MetaTrader 5

Five steps from download to a working panel, plus how to check that it runs and what to do if it does not.

Version 2.5.2 · MetaTrader 5 desktop · Installed from MQL5 Market · Free for personal trading

MetaTrader 5 Requirements Before You Start

  • MetaTrader 5 for desktop on Windows. It is not made for MetaTrader 4.
  • A free MQL5 account (the same login you use inside MetaTrader 5) to install from the MQL5 Market.
  • A demo account to test on first.

How to Install MA Trade Assistant in MetaTrader 5

  1. 1

    Open the MQL5 Market page

Press the download button on this page. The MQL5 Market page opens; a free MQL5 account is needed, the same one you use in MetaTrader 5.

  2. 2

    Install it

On the Market page press Install. MetaTrader 5 opens and downloads the tool. Updating from 2.1? Remove MA_TradeAssistant_v2 from the chart first.

  3. 3

    Refresh the Navigator

In the Navigator window, right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh. MA_TradeAssistant appears in the list.

  4. 4

    Drag it onto a chart

Drag MA_TradeAssistant onto the chart you trade.

  5. 5

    Allow Algo Trading

Tick Allow Algo Trading in the dialog and press OK. The Algo Trading button in the top toolbar must be green.

New versions from the MQL5 Market are announced inside MetaTrader 5. To see news, open the Calendar tab in the Toolbox once and wait a minute. If MetaTrader 5 says the terminal build is too old, update it from Help, then Check for Updates. Always test on a demo account first.

How to Verify the Panel Is Running in MT5

  • The panel appears on the chart, with the header MA Trade Assistant and a version number.
  • The Algo Trading button in the top toolbar is green. If it is red, press it once.
  • The TIME and SPREAD boxes at the top of the panel update. If they do not, check that the market is open.
  • For news, open the Calendar tab in the Toolbox once and wait a minute. Then the news card fills in.

Troubleshooting Common MT5 Installation Issues

The tool does not appear in the Navigator

Check that the download from the MQL5 Market finished in the Toolbox (Market or Journal tab). Right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh; it may appear under Experts, then Market. If it still does not load, update your MetaTrader 5 terminal from Help, then Check for Updates.

The panel appears but the buttons say BLOCKED

A hard rule is broken, for example the daily loss limit or a news block. Read the findings card on the ORDER tab: it says why.

The news card is empty

The news comes from the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar. Open the Calendar tab in the Toolbox once and wait a minute.

Orders are not sent

Check that Algo Trading is switched on (green button) and that you ticked Allow Algo Trading when you attached the tool.

Updating from version 2.1

Remove MA_TradeAssistant_v2 from the chart (and delete the old MA_TradeAssistant_v2.ex5 from MQL5, then Experts, if you installed 2.1 by hand). Install the new version from the MQL5 Market, refresh the Navigator and drag the new tool onto the chart. Test on a demo account first.
