MA Trade Assistant
MA Trade Assistant FAQ and MetaTrader 5 Troubleshooting
Short answers, grouped by topic. Each answer is based on how version 2.4.4 actually behaves.
About the tool
Is MA Trade Assistant free?
Yes. It is free to use for personal trading. The file is compiled, so the source code is not published.
Does it trade automatically or give signals?
No. It does not open trades on its own and it does not give buy or sell signals. You decide every trade. The panel calculates, checks and manages.
Does it work for MetaTrader 4?
No. It is made for MetaTrader 5 only.
Can I get the source code?
The tool is distributed through the MQL5 Market as a compiled file only. It must not be modified, resold or redistributed as your own.
Installation and updates
The tool does not appear in the Navigator. What should I do?
Check that the download from the MQL5 Market finished in the Toolbox (Market or Journal tab), then right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh. It may appear under Experts, then Market. If it still does not load, update your MetaTrader 5 terminal to a recent build.
How do I update from version 2.1?
Remove MA_TradeAssistant_v2 from the chart (and delete the old MA_TradeAssistant_v2.ex5 from MQL5, then Experts, if you installed 2.1 by hand), install the new version from the MQL5 Market page, refresh the Navigator and drag the new tool onto the chart. After that, new versions from the Market are announced inside MetaTrader 5. Test on a demo account first.
Risk, news and prop rules
Which risk modes are available for the lot size?
Eight: a currency amount, percent of balance, percent of equity, percent of free margin, percent of a custom base, and percent of the previous day, previous week or previous month balance.
Does it connect to my prop firm?
No. You enter the rules of your challenge yourself (initial balance, target, daily loss, maximum drawdown, minimum days). It is not affiliated with any prop firm, and you must always check the official rules of your firm.
Where does the news come from?
From the economic calendar built into MetaTrader 5. Times follow your broker server time. If the news does not appear, open the Calendar tab in the Toolbox once and wait a minute.
Will it close my trades before news by itself?
Only if you turn on “Hard close before events” in the News guard. It is off by default.
Why does the volume profile say tick volume?
On forex and CFD symbols MetaTrader 5 gives tick volume from your broker, not exchange volume. The profile is a useful map, but it is not real traded volume.
Look and extras
How do I change the look of the panel?
Open MORE, then Setup, and press the Theme button. Each press cycles through the 6 built-in themes and your choice is saved automatically: Site (gold, the default warm near-black look), TradingView dark, Dracula, MT5 Teal, Nord, and Light. You can also set the starting theme in the inputs window (F7) under Panel theme.
What does the candle countdown timer do, and can I get an alert?
It shows the time left before the current candle closes, on whatever timeframe the chart uses. It is on by default and you can switch it off with the Candle timer box in MORE, Setup. For alerts, open the inputs window (F7) and, under Candle timer alerts, set how many seconds before the close you want a warning, and whether you also want one when a new candle opens. Alerts can be a popup, a sound file or a push notification to your phone. Alerts are off by default.
